Let’s face it--the phrase “We enjoy four full seasons” is often a euphemism for “Br-r-r-r! It is cold and snowy in the winter.” We don’t know about you, but we can live without that! If we want snow, we will travel to a snowboard and ski park!
Here in the Fort Hood, Copperas Cove, Harker Heights and Killeen area we are blessed with a climate that is warm enough to enjoy the great outdoors almost year round. Although we do have a winter, it is relatively short and mild. Mostly our area is known for warmth and sun.
With long sunny summers and short mild winters, the Fort Hood region is a great place to live if you enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. The townships of Copperas Cove, Harker Heights and Killeen all have plentiful parks, large golf courses, and well planned recreational facilities that enable residents to take advantage of the gorgeous climate.
Summer temperatures average around ninety degrees, with highs of ninety-five and lows around seventy degrees.
Winter temperatures average around forty-nine degrees, and December and January may see light snowfall (around three quarters of an inch).
Early summer and autumn (May, June, September, and October) see most of the rainfall in Bell County (over three inches a month), and late summer and winter are the driest months. In the main, residents of Copperas Cove, Fort Hood, Harker Heights and Killeen see a great deal more sun than rain.
